The Annual ceremony for the presentation of religious emblems will be help at Holy Name Cathedral on Sunday January 28, 2018 at 2:30 PM.
The Cathedral is located at 735 N. State St. Chicago, IL (at Superior). Some free parking is available in the Cathedral lot across State Street. If you wish to attend Mass at the Cathedral, there is Mass both before, at 12:30 PM, and after, at 5:15 PM. Please take into consideration traffic from these masses and coming and going from one parking lot.
Scouts receiving emblems and attending the ceremony are expected to arrive at the Cathedral no later than 2;00 PM. With many scouts and families attending this event, there are many activities to accomplish in a short time to ensure that your seating assignment is completed. Friends and family members are welcome to be seated, first come first served, in the back half of the cathedral
All Scouts and leaders are expected to be in your Scout Field Uniforms. As you are receiving your emblem from the Bishop, please ensure that your uniform is proper, and clean. For this ceremony, the wearing of merit badge and OA sashes is not necessary.
For the Board of review, every Scout will need to appear in full Scout Field Uniform, (often referred to the ‘Class A” uniform). They will need to have their books properly completed, with all the required signatures, and also the last page, the survey.
The medal fee is $20 and is paid at the Board of Review. Please make checks payable to Archdiocese of Chicago.
The next award ceremony for St. George, Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII, and the Pope Paul VI (quality unit award) recipients will be held Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.
